What’s an in-home family session like with Kat?

Real is powerful! We will go through the things your kids love doing right now and choose some activities to do during our three hours together. But I am always on the lookout for the unexpected moments.

I see you. The authentic you. The hardworking, resilient you, even when you overlook that within yourself. I have the privilege of capturing it through photography. Without judgment, without criticism.

Your house doesn’t need to be spotless, there is no need for uncomfortable fancy clothes. I always create a safe space for your family to be who they are during our time together.

When I look back on family photos, the ones that stand out the most to me are the ones of myself and my family being ourselves and doing seemingly ordinary things. I wanted to offer the same thing to the families I work with as well.

This is an extremely candid photo session! We'll be hanging out like long-time friends, but the pictures that will come out of it are truly one-of-a-kind and amazing.

This documentary-style session typically lasts for 3 hours. I will arrive at your house in the morning until about lunchtime and capture your children being themselves, your family dynamic, your encompassing personalities, and the things that make you feel connected to one another.

A Year in the Life Program

The days are long, but the years are short is a cheesy but true statement.

What is it?
It’s a 3-hour documentary session a quarter. We will plan what to do during our time together and by the end of the year, we will have a great story to tell about your family. Parenthood is so many times unseen. Let’s shine a light on the way you do it.

Where should your sessions happen?
On the location of your choosing. At least one should be at your home because it’s the place your family spends most of the time together. But for us to have a good idea of what your year looked like; We should include some of the activities your family does together. For example, your kid’s baseball game, their ballet recital or swim lesson, or your child's birthday party. These are all wonderful events to capture that can show how your family supports one another in your daily life.

Three-hour sessions every quarter sounds like a lot
Think of me as a friend who comes to hang out with you. These sessions are documentary in nature, so I won’t be disturbing what you are planning on doing. It’s not like you have to make time to come to me. I will go to your house, your child’s baseball game, swimming lesson, or whatever you have on your schedule for that day/time. And no additional preparation is required from you. You don't have to clean your house, dress up, or pretend to be who you are not. Remember we are telling the real story of your family.

Do we need to start our “year in the life” in January?
Nope, we can start any month and your one year will end in the same month of the following year.

How far in advance do I need to schedule?

“A Year in the life” clients have first dibs on my calendar. You can schedule 6 months in advance and I understand that life happens so I will accommodate reschedules as best as I can.

That all sounds great, but how much would this cost?
This is a subscription service of $250 a month. You can cancel at any time with no fees. And as long as you are still in the program your price won’t go up. Talk about being grandparented in!! Also, you get a month off if you want to pay for the entire year upfront. That’s a $250 discount. For this option please email me. Newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your own home.

Get ready for some up close and personal snuggle time with your new baby. I believe that babies are perfect, just the way they are, and it brings me so much joy to take simple, timeless photos for you to cherish forever.

The most important part of my newborn sessions is capturing the love that parents have for their babies in the early moments of their new life.

You are more than welcome to invite extended family, grandparents, or whoever you would like to include in these photos. Look at our First Year Package for a maternity session and newborn photos.

I offer a special package for the baby’s first year. 4 sessions a year $600 per session with 25 images included. Life is fleeting, and the first year goes by so fast.

01. Fill out the contact form, and expect a call! You tell me about yourself and your family and I share a little bit about myself so we can avoid those awkward meeting-for-the-first-time moments the day of your session. Together we pick the date for us to make photos and we book your session. That’s literally all the planning you need to do.

Because these are storytelling sessions you need to have all the images that tell your story. You can expect your photoshoot to last up to 3 hours.

Savor it all - $975

*a 50% deposit is due at time of booking to secure your session date. $125 is non-refundable. The balance will be due on the day of your session. If you need to reschedule, your deposit will be transferred to your new date!

Session fee covers:

pre-session planning and vision mapping,
creative direction during the session,
post session curating and final touches,
all the best photos (100+) delivered in a private online gallery perfect for viewing, downloading, and sharing with friends and family,
$200 complimentary print credit

Some people decide to invest in beautiful high-quality albums and/or a gallery wall of fine art prints. I am happy to guide them on those decisions so there is no overwhelm in choosing what products are the best ones for you. These consultations are free.

The typical investment is $1200 - $3,500.

02. It is time for your photo session. Relax. Just be yourself. It is going to be great. We will meet at our agreed location and make some magic. I am a very laid-back person and there is nothing your kids can do that will horrify me. So, don’t worry I don’t judge and I’m a mom too.

03. Check your email! A beautiful slideshow will land in your inbox two to three weeks after our session. Gather your loved ones, watch it together, and let the magic of those moments sink in. There may be happy tears.
